On December 1-3, the World Aeropress Championships (WAC) descended upon Vancouver, Canada. Emceed by Wendelien van Bunnik, 2019 World Aeropress Champion, and Eric Grimm, the Director of Positive Outcomes for Glitter Cat Barista, 41 national champions from around the world faced off on the world stage to see who could brew the best cup of AeroPress coffee and win the title of World Aeropress Champion.

On Day 1 of the competition, all of the competitors were tasked with making their world-final winning recipes with a washed 'striped bourbon' from Finca Juan Martin in Cauca, Colombia. Then on Day 2 when nine semi-finalists were brought onto the stage, they were in for a surprise - they had only 40 minutes to dial in the naturally processed version for the final rounds.

Congratulations to all of the competitors. It was an honor to be there to support you and be chosen as the official small wares partner for the competition. We saw our scales and limited edition WAC Artisan Gooseneck Kettles alongside such amazing talent. Also, huge congratulations to the winners: Jibbi Little (Australia and Thailand) for placing first, Simon Derutter (Belgium) with a close second, and Jennifer Rui Ping Ho (Singapore) rounding out third.

We're also excited to have Getchusomegear Canada as the main beneficiary of the wares. Getchusomegear is a project (made up of coffee pros) that re-distributes free boxes of coffee gear to baristas and coffee workers that hold systemically excluded identities.

Below are some of the exciting highlights from the championships, and Brewista equipment in action.
